Debunking Heather on Stumble Upon.com, egg whites vs eggs!

 Heather writes, “This guy seriously needs to update his education. There may be some decent basic fitness tips, but here is our supposed nutritionist actually telling people to eat eggs without the yolk. Yeeesh. Not only does the yolk contain all the vitamins and nutrition, the egg whites contain a protein that binds to biotin, potentially causing a deficiency. What’s very high in biotin? Oh yeah, egg yolks. Basic and amateur, there are better places to go to learn about health.”

Ya, Ok Heather.

Well, Heather you are actually somewhat correct…somewhat I must say!!! First of all egg whites are one of the most bioavailable sources of protein.  Second, yes egg yolks have all kinds of hidden vitamins and minerals that are great for you.  This is why I believe mixing 1 yolk with 2-4 egg whites to make an omelet can be great. 

However, you are talking to people who are trying to lose weight and you remind me of the old Atkin’s Diet Phenomenon when it said don’t worry about fat.  So, what happended.  I’ll tell you what happened.  Every junk food junkee and meat loving carnivore dieter started to engulf so much bacon fat, EEEGGGS and every other cholesterol blending concoction . What did they get?  Ya, weight loss with added gout, kidney problems and all sorts of internal discoveries. Plus, if you think eating egg yolks will give you all your daily vitamins and minerals then go swagger down a carton of eggs Heather.

Summary: eat an egg yolk daily if you like but not 4-5 eggs daily like Heather says to do. Go for the whites to get lean.

    Protein affects calcium absorption so should we tell people to not eat chicken, fish and protein drinks. Heather, c’mon. Anyone who’s trying to get lean as possible knows egg whites are the way to go. I’ve been a personal trainer for 9 years and I agree with Doug.
